Your yard, looked after all year. Spring cleanups, weekly lawn care, patios, gardens and snow removal in Newmarket and the five towns around it.
We’re a crew of nine based in Newmarket. The people who cut your grass in July rake your leaves in October and plow your driveway in January, so there’s one number to call for the whole year.

Who we are
Nine people and one phone number
Nadia and Tom Brandt started Almanac in 2012 with one truck, a push mower and eleven lawns in Newmarket. There are nine of us now, and most of the crew has been here five years or more. We stay small on purpose, so the person who quotes your patio is the person who builds it.

- 212lawns on our weekly route this summer
- 146patios and walkways built since 2012
- 380driveways on our snow route last winter

Reviews
What customers told us
4.7out of 5, the average of the three reviews below
They took our backyard from a muddy mess to a patio and two new beds in one spring. The quote was itemized line by line, and the final bill matched it. The crew swept the street every evening before they left.
Leanne, Aurora We’ve been on their snow route for three winters. The driveway is done before I leave for work at 7:30, and they came back twice last February for the ridge the town plow left at the end.
Gurpreet, Stouffville Our weekly cut is always on Tuesday, and they edge the beds and blow off the walk every time. Fall cleanup got pushed a week by rain, but they called to tell us before we had to ask.

Questions
Questions people ask us
Something else? Call (905) 555-0154 and ask whoever picks up. It’s usually Nadia.
When do spring cleanups start?
Usually in the second week of April, once the ground is dry enough that our boots and equipment won’t tear up the lawn. In a wet spring we wait a week or two. We book cleanups in the order people sign up, and most yards are done by mid May.
Do I have to sign up for the whole season of lawn care?
Weekly lawn care runs from early May to late October and is billed once a month. You can cancel with two weeks’ notice at any time. Most customers stay on all season because their mowing day stays the same every week.
How long does an interlock patio take to build?
A typical 300 square foot patio takes three to five working days. Before we dig, we request free utility locates through Ontario One Call, which can take up to five business days, so we book them as soon as you approve the quote. Rain can push the dates by a day or two.
Do I need a permit for a patio or retaining wall?
A patio built at ground level usually doesn’t need a building permit in York Region. Retaining walls over one metre tall usually do, and some towns have rules about building near property lines and easements. We check with your town before we send the quote.
What do you do with the leaves and yard waste?
We bag them in paper yard waste bags and take them to a composting facility the same day. If you’d rather put the bags out for your town’s yard waste pickup, tell us and we’ll leave them at the curb on the right week.
When does the snow plow come?
Our trucks go out once 5 cm of snow has fallen, and on a normal snowfall your driveway is usually clear by 7 am. When the town plow leaves a ridge of heavy snow across the end of your driveway, we come back and clear it at no extra charge.
